New Date for Electronically Filing the Unemployment Form

By means of an administrative order, the Secretary of Labor and Human Resources (DLUR) postpones the beginning of the obligation for electronically filing the Unemployment Forms to the Second Quarter of the year which ends on July 31, 2019.

Thus, the postponement will allow employers additional time to complete the transition into using the technological tools that will benefit workers.

The obligation to file electronically responds to the public policy of the Government of Puerto Rico to maximize the use of technology and add more efficiency to the provision of services as well as reducing costs.

Employers are encouraged to continue with the process by accessing the Department’s website https://patronos.trabajo.pr.gov/patronos,and registering their entity.   Once the application has been completed, they must send it to the following email: https://patronos.trabajo.pr.gov/patronos so that they may comply with the electronic filling of the form for the next Quarter which ends on July 31, 2019.

Any employer that does not use the electronic methods at the end of the Second Tax Quarter of 2019 will be subject to the rules, procedures, and legal regulations that may apply.
